Last night with a craving for tacos my lady and I ventured to one of our favourite restaurants Grand Electric, located just east of Brock Avenue on Queen Street West.

If you aren’t in the mood for loud rap music this is probably not the place for you. But, if you want great food, good service and reasonable prices this IS THE SPOT!

With no reservations this small space has its share of lineups so good to go early or to plan to have a few drinks at a nearby patio while you wait for a table to open up. We arrived just before six, got a primo seat at the bar so like any good patrons we started off with the Restaurants famous Bourbonade.

The Spicy Squid appetizer was next and did not disappoint. It is an interesting take on calamari, but better….all because of the sauce. Then it was on to the reason we came…Tacos! I could order every single one on the menu because they are all good, so I stuck with my favourites in the beginning. Beef cheek is on the top of my list, then Baja Fish, Pork Tinga and back to a Beef Cheek. As if 4 tacos wasn’t enough I went for number 5, the Scrapple. I’m not even sure what was in this meat cake in a soft taco shell but it was delicious to say the least. We finished the night with the restaurants signature bite sized dessert in a mason jar, the Coconut Cream and sipped on a refreshing Taco Lyte Pale Ale. We left just an hour later with our bellies full of good food and drink reminded of why we love this place so much!
